NGOs say Israel targeting Gaza police helps looters of aid

A group of 29 NGOs, including Save the Children and Oxfam, reported that looting of aid in Gaza has increased due to Israel’s army targeting local police, leading to a significant drop in humanitarian aid entering the territory. Israel has been accused of failing to prevent aid trucks from being looted and armed gangs from extorting aid organizations, resulting in the deaths of at least 20 aid workers and a lack of essential goods reaching the population. Despite opening a new aid crossing, Israel is still criticized for not doing enough to improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza, following warnings from the United States to increase aid deliveries or risk losing military support.
