Carjacker crashes near Beverly Hills tree-lighting; 4 hurt, police say

A man was arrested in Beverly Hills for stealing a car and injuring four bystanders in a hit-and-run near a holiday tree-lighting event. James Portul, 22, of Pennsylvania was apprehended after crashing a stolen BMW X3 into a group of people, causing injuries to two men, one woman, and a boy. The incident occurred near Wilshire Boulevard and Camden Drive during the city’s annual Rodeo Drive Holiday Lighting Celebration.
