Unconscious person pulled from water off Gisborne coast

Surf lifeguards and a rescue team saved an unconscious person at Gisborne’s Sponge Bay with the help of two inflatable boats and the Eastland Rescue Helicopter. The helicopter winched a medic to the scene while surf lifeguards provided assistance, resulting in one patient being airlifted to Gisborne Hospital in moderate condition. Two others with minor injuries were assessed on-site by St John.
