Police Scotland has received a non-recent allegation of sexual assault against the late Alex Salmond, former leader of the Alba Party and first minister of Scotland. Salmond, who faced previous allegations of sexual misconduct and was cleared of all charges in 2020, passed away suddenly while on a trip to North Macedonia. The Alba Party has dismissed the new allegations as “smears” and called for Salmond to be allowed to “rest in peace”, while political figures attended his funeral in Aberdeenshire.
