A 61-year-old man named A. Shanmugavelu from Yettivayal village near Chatrakudi was killed instantly after being struck by a brake shoe that flew off a passing train while he was walking near a railway track on his way to work. The incident occurred as the Ramanathapuram-Madurai passenger train passed by at 7:30 a.m., causing his death due to the impact on his face. The Railway police have sent the body for postmortem examination and are conducting further investigations while railway officials plan to inspect the spot and examine the brake shoe that caused the tragedy.
