Feds bypass Alberta, offer Edmonton money for homeless encampments

Alberta’s Seniors, Community and Social Services Minister Jason Nixon disputes Housing Minister Sean Fraser’s claim that Alberta has not accepted a multimillion-dollar cost-sharing offer from the federal government to address homelessness encampments. Fraser states that Alberta, Ontario, and Saskatchewan have not responded to the offer, leading Canada to deal directly with municipal governments in Edmonton and Calgary. Nixon insists that Alberta has not received or declined any money related to encampments and is open to matching funding, criticizing the lack of clarity and political games from Ottawa.
