At least 7 dead after ferry dock gangway collapses on Georgia’s Sapelo Island

At least 7 people have died after a gangway collapsed on Georgia’s Sapelo Island, sending individuals into the water during a celebration of the island’s Gullah-Geechee community. Multiple people were taken to hospitals, and search efforts involving various rescue teams are ongoing. The cause of the collapse is unknown, but it is believed that around 20 people were on the gangway at the time, connecting an outer dock to an onshore dock.
