Denmark closes investigation into Nord Stream explosions – POLITICO

Denmark announced on Monday that it has closed its investigation into the 2022 blasts on the Nord Stream pipelines, which transport gas from Russia to Germany.

According to Danish daily newspaper Politiken, the Copenhagen police stated, “Based on the investigation, the authorities can conclude that there was deliberate sabotage of the gas pipelines. At the same time, it is assessed that there is no necessary basis for pursuing criminal proceedings in Denmark.”

Earlier this month, Sweden also ended its investigation into the explosions, determining that its courts do not have jurisdiction over the case.

Various countries have been accused of being involved in the explosions, with Ukraine pointing the finger at Russia and Poland suggesting Moscow’s responsibility, which the Kremlin has denied.

Russian Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov criticized Denmark’s decision to suspend the investigation into the Nord Stream pipelines explosions, calling it “close to absurd”, as reported by the Russian state-run news agency RIA Novosti.
