The United States has charged former Indian intelligence officer Vikash Yadav with directing a foiled plot to murder Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York last year. The FBI emphasized that it would not tolerate retaliation against US residents and unsealed the indictment in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. An Indian government committee met with US officials in Washington to investigate Indian involvement in the assassination plot, following US pressure for India to address the issue.
