In summary: England had India in a difficult position at 7-177 while chasing 353, but India’s lower order helped them reach 307.England then struggled in their second innings and were all out for 145, with India at 0-40 chasing 192.What comes next? If India successfully chase the total, they will secure a 3-1 lead in the series.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav combined to take seven wickets, leading India to a remarkable turnaround on day three of the fourth Test against England.

Ashwin claimed 5-51 in 15.5 overs, while Yadav took 4-22 in 15 overs as England were dismissed for 145 in their second innings on Sunday.

This set India a target of 192 runs to secure a 3-1 series lead, and they ended day three at 0-40, with Rohit Sharma (24no) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (16no) at the crease, needing 152 more runs to win.

England’s second innings crumbled quickly, with Ashwin claiming his 35th five-wicket haul in Tests.

Ashwin’s first victim was Ben Duckett, caught at short leg for 15. He then dismissed Ollie Pope and Joe Root in quick succession.

Root, who scored a century in the first innings, was out lbw to Ashwin for 11, which triggered a collapse for England.

Zak Crawley’s valiant 60 off 91 balls helped England cross the 100-run mark before he was bowled by Yadav. The lower order offered little resistance as Ashwin and Yadav dominated.

India’s lower order, led by Dhruv Jurel’s 90-run knock, helped them close in on England’s first-innings total, finishing at 307.

Offspinner Shoaib Bashir took 5-119 in 44 overs, his first five-wicket haul, as India fought back against the English spinners on a challenging pitch.
