Polish president may revoke Ukraine’s Zelenskyy state honour

Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki has expressed outrage over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decree to rename a military unit “Heroes of the UPA,” honoring the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which was involved in the Volhynia massacres during World War II. Nawrocki is proposing the revocation of Zelenskyy’s Order of the White Eagle, which he received in 2023. This move has raised concerns about the impact on Polish-Ukrainian relations, with Prime Minister Donald Tusk stating it “wounds our historical sensitivity.”
