The landlocked Central Asian nation of Kyrgyzstan saw a significant increase in exports to Russia after Western sanctions were imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The annual value of exports from Kyrgyzstan to Russia jumped from $393m to $1.07bn, including dual-use products like microchips.
