Washington Football Team Offers Scholarship to 2028 Cornerback from California

The Washington Huskies coaching staff has ramped up recruiting efforts following the conclusion of spring practice, extending new offers to top prospects in the 2028 class. Among those offered is Micah Hannah, a three-star cornerback from Simi Valley High School, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 175 pounds. Hannah, the son of former USC wide receiver Travis Hannah, already had 15 scholarship offers, including ones from notable programs like Arizona, Arkansas, and Florida. He is the fourth cornerback from California to receive an offer from Washington’s secondary coach John Richardson, indicating the staff’s high regard for him. Over his first two seasons, Hannah has recorded 77 tackles, 19 passes defended, and 4 interceptions, showcasing his potential as a player.

Why It Matters

Washington’s early recruiting strategy may help secure talent ahead of future needs, particularly as they prepare for potential departures of current players like sophomore cornerback Dylan Robinson, who may enter the NFL draft. With only 13 verbal commitments for the 2027 class, the Huskies are strategically targeting promising young athletes like Hannah to strengthen their defense. The trend of offering prospects in advance reflects a proactive approach by college programs to build a robust roster and maintain competitiveness in the Big Ten. Historically, early offers can significantly influence a recruit’s decision, shaping the future landscape of college football recruiting.
