The Carolina Panthers have announced the signing of 10 undrafted free agents, with wide receiver Malick Meiga expected to join the team next week. Meiga, who is 6-foot-4 and weighs 204 pounds, played five collegiate seasons, primarily at Penn State and Coastal Carolina, where he amassed 35 receptions for 432 yards and two touchdowns across 51 games. The undrafted free agent class includes players such as quarterback Haynes King from Georgia Tech, wide receiver Kobe Prentice from Baylor, and several others from various universities. Additionally, the Panthers have signed six of their seven picks from the 2026 NFL Draft, including first-round offensive tackle Monroe Freeling. The team will kick off its rookie minicamp on Friday.

Why It Matters

The signing of undrafted free agents is a critical strategy for NFL teams, allowing them to enhance their rosters without using draft picks. Historically, many successful NFL players have emerged from undrafted status, contributing significantly to their teams. The Panthers’ proactive approach in signing players like Meiga and integrating their draft picks illustrates their commitment to building a competitive roster, especially as they prepare for the upcoming season. The rookie minicamp is an essential step in evaluating talent and determining positions leading into training camp.
