Study finds Iranian-linked accounts spreading propaganda on social media

A Clemson University report has uncovered 62 social media accounts linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that are promoting anti-Israel and anti-U.S. content during the ongoing conflict. These accounts, found on platforms like X, Bluesky, and Instagram, appear to be falsely representing users from the Americas and Europe. Following military strikes by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, these accounts shifted to disseminating pro-Iranian propaganda, utilizing AI-generated content and misinformation. Bluesky has removed the identified accounts, while Meta stated they actively prohibit content promoting terrorism and inauthentic behavior.
