Protesters gather at Columbia University one year after Mahmoud Khalil’s detention

Supporters of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil rallied outside Columbia University to mark one year since his detention by US immigration authorities. Khalil, a lawful US resident and Columbia graduate, was detained last March for his involvement in pro-Palestine protests. Although released by a federal judge, his deportation case is ongoing. Activists also raised awareness for Leqaa Kordia, a Palestinian protester detained since March 2025.
