Commander and Lieutenant Commander to face court martial over HMNZS Manawanui sinking

Three senior officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy, including Commander Yvonne Gray, have been charged under the Armed Forces Discipline Act 1971 following the grounding of HMNZS Manawanui on a reef off Samoa on October 5, 2024. The charges allege navigational errors by the bridge crew led to the incident. Pleas have not yet been entered, but Gray has indicated she will contest the charges through her lawyer.
