Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei broke the Tokyo Marathon course record with a time of 2:14:29, finishing over two minutes ahead of Ethiopia’s Bertukan Welde, who placed second in 2:16:36. In the men’s race, Ethiopia’s Tadese Takele defended his title with an official time of 2:03:37, sharing the same time as second-place Geoffrey Toroitich, while Alexander Mutiso Munyao finished just one second behind in third. Kosgei plans to represent Turkey at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
