Ukraine regains southern territory in fifth year of Russia-Ukraine war

Ukraine marked the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion with territorial gains in the south and improved air defenses in Kyiv. President Zelenskyy reported regaining 300-400 square kilometers of territory, while the Institute for the Study of War credited the success to cutting off Russian military communications. Despite Russian attacks with drones and missiles, Ukraine managed to protect key facilities and strike back by targeting Russian missile factories.
