Plans to pedestrianize Oxford Street have received approval, aiming to transform the iconic shopping destination into a car-free promenade. The project, estimated to cost £150 million, will eliminate vehicle traffic along a 0.7-mile stretch between Oxford Circus and Marble Arch. While some changes are expected this year, full pedestrianization will begin next year. Business leaders support the initiative, which follows previous unsuccessful attempts due to local opposition.
