Mexican forces, with support from the United States, have killed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “El Mencho”, the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. His death led to violence across Mexico as gunmen set vehicles ablaze and erected roadblocks in 20 states. The cartel, responsible for trafficking fentanyl into the US, has a presence in all 50 states. El Mencho, once one of Washington’s most wanted fugitives, was killed during a military operation in Jalisco. The US provided intelligence for the operation, resulting in the deaths of three cartel members and the arrest of two others.
