Maya Gebela, a 12-year-old survivor of the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School shooting on February 10, remains in critical condition at B.C. Children’s Hospital, showing some movement on her left side but none on her right. Despite significant brain damage from her injuries, her mother reports signs of responsiveness and she has been cleared for a feeding tube. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Paige Hoekstra, also injured in the shooting, has been cleared to return home. Temporary school facilities are being set up in Tumbler Ridge as plans for a safe return to classes are underway.
