At least 1,007 Palestinian sports people have died, and 265 sports facilities were destroyed during Israel’s ongoing conflict in Gaza since October 2023, according to the Palestinian Olympic Committee. Among the victims, 45 were women, and the destruction has severely impacted youth training and sports participation. Additionally, the war has resulted in over 72,000 deaths and hundreds of violations despite a US-backed ceasefire initiated on October 10. The psychological and economic toll on the sports sector is significant, disrupting development programs and livelihoods.
