A jury is deliberating whether Leslie “Brett” Henderson, owner of Port Rd Bakery in Whangamatā, intentionally struck a man with his vehicle or if it was an unfortunate accident involving a man known for mental health issues. On August 4, 2023, Henderson’s wife, Christine, arrived upset after the man threw a metal bin liner at her car while she was driving. CCTV footage captured the incident as she swerved to avoid him, resulting in the bin hitting her vehicle. The case hinges on assessing the man’s behavior and Henderson’s response.
