Senegal won their second AFCON title in five years after Pape Gueye scored the decisive goal in extra time, while Brahim Diaz’s Panenka penalty was saved by Edouard Mendy, leading to the final whistle. Senegal’s Iliman Ndiaye and Sarr received two-match bans for unsporting behavior, and the Senegal Football Federation was fined $615,000. Morocco’s Ismael Saibari was banned for three matches and fined $100,000, while defender Hakimi received a two-match ban. Morocco’s attempt to overturn the match result was dismissed by CAF’s disciplinary committee.
