An estimated 1000 people gathered at Coronation Park in Tauranga to commemorate the victims of recent landslides one week after the disaster. A grandmother and grandson were among those killed in a Pāpāmoa landslide, while six others perished at a holiday park in Mount Maunganui. The search continues for four individuals still unaccounted for at the base of Mauao, with two victims already identified. Local resident Sandy Scarrow expressed that the community has been overshadowed by sadness during this difficult time.
