Late sleepers may have poorer heart health based on body clock
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Journal of the American Heart Association published research indicating that night owls have poorer heart health compared to early birds and those with intermediate sleep patterns, with women particularly affected. The study assessed nearly 323,000 adults and found night owls had a 79% higher prevalence of poor heart health and a 16% increased risk of heart attacks or strokes over 14 years. Researchers linked misaligned internal clocks to cardiometabolic health issues. The American Heart Association emphasizes quality sleep as essential for heart health, recommending seven to nine hours nightly.
