Man missing after boat fall into Waioeka River

A man is missing after falling from his boat into the Waioeka River, prompting a search that began around 5:30 PM yesterday when police located his boat but not him. Eastern Bay of Plenty Area Commander, Inspector Nicky Cooney, reported that rescue helicopters and local jet boat operators were involved in the effort. The incident occurred after recent floods and severe weather in the Bay of Plenty region. Unfortunately, the man has not yet been found.
