Rock climber Alex Honnold is set to attempt a free solo climb of Taipei 101, Taiwan’s tallest skyscraper, in a Netflix special titled Skyscraper Live, airing Friday at 8 p.m. ET. While many, including climbing enthusiasts in London, Ont., express excitement, they also share concerns about the risks involved due to the absence of safety gear. Honnold, who previously free-soloed El Capitan, believes the building’s design minimizes fall risks. Despite safety measures in place for the broadcast, some worry that his stunt might encourage inexperienced climbers to take dangerous risks.
