At least 21 people were killed and around 100 injured, including 25 seriously, after a high-speed train derailed and collided with another train near Adamuz in southern Spain on Sunday evening. The Iryo 6189 train, traveling from Malaga to Madrid, derailed shortly after departing Córdoba, causing a second train on the Madrid to Huelva route to also derail. Emergency responders assisted passengers as rail services between Madrid and Andalusia were suspended following the incident. This tragedy occurred just days after a separate rail disaster in Thailand killed at least 22.
