Record numbers of New Zealanders are moving to Australia for work and better wages, but many arrive unprepared, facing financial difficulties and housing insecurity. The Nerang Neighbourhood Centre (NNC) on the Gold Coast has been assisting these individuals, even funding return flights for those in need. General manager Vicky Rose noted that the influx has increased, especially post-Covid-19 and due to new restrictions on housing support for non-citizens. Many newcomers lack sufficient funds and planning for unexpected challenges.
