A tragic incident in Tokyo’s Akasaka district resulted in the deaths of Yoko Matsuda, 37, and her husband, Masanari, 36, who became trapped in a sauna during a fire. Police are investigating a faulty door handle and discovered the sauna’s emergency alarm system had been off for two years. A burnt towel was found inside, suggesting it may have ignited the blaze. Sauna Tiger has since closed the facility and is cooperating with investigations, amid rising concerns over sauna safety regulations.
