Flu Linked to Deaths of Three Children in Ottawa

Three children aged five to nine have died from influenza complications in Ottawa this month, prompting health officials to urge vaccinations. Ottawa Public Health and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit emphasized the importance of vaccination, especially for children, due to rising severe illness. CHEO reported a significant increase in flu-related visits and has called on family doctors to enhance their flu prevention efforts. As of December 6, fewer than five flu-related pediatric deaths were reported across 15 children’s hospitals in eight provinces.
