New York City has tied its record for the longest period without a homicide, going 12 days from November 25 to December 7, according to NYPD data. This record was interrupted when a 38-year-old man was shot in a Bronx apartment building. The city has also seen the lowest number of shooting incidents and victims this year, along with a record low of 16 murders in November. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch credited effective strategies and the efforts of the police department in reducing violent crime.
