TikTok advises users to download content before Australia’s social media ban
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

TikTok has encouraged young users to download their content ahead of Australia’s social media ban on December 10. The platform plans to comply with the legislation by implementing a multi-layered approach to age verification, allowing users over 16 to appeal wrongful account deactivations through various methods, including credit card verification and parental support. Other platforms like Snapchat and Meta have shared similar compliance plans, while Reddit, Twitch, and X have yet to disclose their strategies. Meta has already started removing young users from its platforms in anticipation of the law’s enforcement.
