Tunisian experts have raised concerns over a fivefold increase in drug addiction among youth, with rates rising from 1.3% in 2013 to 8.9% in 2023, particularly affecting adolescents aged 13 to 18. Sociologist Khalifa Al-Qarbi emphasized the urgency for preventative measures, while Hichem Hajji pointed to school dropout, unemployment, and family instability as key factors behind the crisis. He advocated for community interventions, including vocational training and increased recreational opportunities.
