Starbucks Workers Launch Open-Ended Strike in the US
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Over a thousand unionized Starbucks baristas initiated an open-ended strike across more than 40 U.S. cities, coinciding with the company’s Red Cup Day sales event, due to stalled contract negotiations with Starbucks Workers United. The union, representing about 550 stores, aims for improved wages and benefits, citing unfair labor practices by the company. Despite claims of limited impact from Starbucks, the strike could become the largest in the chain’s history. The movement follows previous strikes and ongoing frustrations over negotiations under CEO Brian Niccol, whose compensation starkly contrasts with employee pay.
