A 65-year-old man tragically died after falling at Guano Point in the Grand Canyon on Thursday, with his body discovered about 130 feet down. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident occurred in an area without safety railings, prompting a rescue operation involving a pulley system to retrieve the body. The Hualapai Nation and other agencies assisted in the response, and the man’s family has been notified. Since 2007, 216 deaths have been reported at the Grand Canyon, with 26 attributed to falls.
