Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Re-elected as Likud Party Leader
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was re-elected unopposed as the leader of the Likud Party, securing his candidacy for the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for October 27, 2026. This decision was made during a meeting of the party’s Election and Oversight Committee in Tel Aviv. Despite facing ongoing corruption charges, Netanyahu plans to run again, as Israeli law permits him to remain in office until a Supreme Court conviction. Netanyahu has been at the helm of multiple Israeli governments since 1996.
