An avalanche on Mount Yalung Ri has resulted in the deaths of five foreign climbers and two Nepali guides, with five others injured at the base camp located at 4,900 meters. The identities of the foreign climbers have yet to be confirmed, and worsening weather conditions have hindered rescue efforts. A helicopter attempted to reach the site but was forced to turn back due to bad weather, with plans to try again at dawn. Mount Yalung Ri, a 5,600-meter peak, is typically regarded as suitable for beginner climbers.
