The Union cabinet approved significant increases in minimum support prices for six rabi crops, with wheat rising by 6.6% to Rs 2,585 per quintal for the 2026-27 season. Safflower saw the highest hike, promoting oilseed cultivation, and farmers are expected to earn Rs 84,263 crore from the anticipated procurement of 297 lakh tonnes.
