A red alert has been issued for Coimbatore and The Nilgiris due to expected heavy rainfall, while fishermen are advised to stay out of the sea until May 28 due to rough conditions. The state noted a rainfall deficit of 92% compared to the average, with maximum rainfall recorded at 11 cm in Avalanche, Nilgiris.
