Menendez Brothers Resentenced
A judge’s recent ruling allows Erik and Lyle Menendez, who have served over 30 years for their parents’ 1989 murder, to seek parole after being resentenced to 50 years to life. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic found they do not pose an “unreasonable risk” for release, prompting a June 13 hearing to assess their parole suitability. Despite opposition from the current District Attorney, the brothers’ application for clemency remains active, and any parole recommendation will require approval from California Governor Gavin Newsom.
