Students across the US are engaging in a dangerous TikTok trend known as the ‘Chromebook Challenge,’ where they insert foreign objects into school-issued Chromebooks, causing fires and prompting arrests. The challenge has led to at least 15 incidents of tampering in New Hampshire and 14 in Massachusetts, with reports of overheating and smoke. Schools are warning students of the serious hazards, including toxic fumes and potential fines for damages, while a recent case involved a 13-year-old girl arrested for arson after a laptop caught fire.
