The New Democratic Party of Canada has appointed Don Davies as its interim leader following Jagmeet Singh’s resignation after losing his seat in the April 28 federal election. Born in Edmonton in 1963, Davies has been an MP since 2008, winning six consecutive elections in Vancouver Kingsway, and has held various roles in Parliamentary associations. With the NDP’s recent decline to 7 seats and Alberta’s provincial NDP severing ties, the party is focused on rebuilding, and while no date is set for a permanent leader, potential candidates are emerging within the caucus.
