Yemen’s Houthis threaten “comprehensive aerial blockade” on Israel – Middle East Monitor

The Humanitarian Operations Coordination Centre (HOCC) in Sanaa has notified the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) about a comprehensive aerial blockade on Israel, effective May 4, 2025, due to security threats from Yemeni forces. The Centre urged these bodies to issue aviation warnings and coordinate measures to protect aircraft, framing the blockade as a humanitarian response to the situation in Gaza. Founded in 2024, the HOCC aims to minimize civilian harm in military zones while adhering to international law and Yemen’s interests.
