The drug, Spravato (esketamine), works by targeting the neurotransmitter glutamate and can provide rapid relief from depressive symptoms. Available through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, it will cost $31.60 per dose or $7.70 for concession card holders, enhancing the quality of life for thousands of Australians suffering from this condition.
