Have scientists discovered a new colour called ‘olo’? | Science and Technology News

A team of scientists from the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Washington has reportedly discovered a new colour named “olo,” which is invisible to the naked eye and can only be perceived through a specialized laser technology called Oz. This hue, described as a profoundly saturated teal, was experienced by five individuals during the study published in Science Advances, although it has always existed beyond human vision. While olo is not a new physical colour, it represents a sociolinguistic novelty as it can now be named and distinguished thanks to technological advancements.
