After her mother’s death and during the Covid-19 pandemic, Alexandra Johnson, a former city trader without formal art training, began painting in her kitchen to cope with her grief. Her works, created solely with a palette knife and spatula, have gained significant recognition, with one portrait of Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai selling for £51,200 at Bonhams auction house.
