A 27-year-old British man died after being buried in snow during a series of unusual avalanches at the Val Thorens ski resort in the French Alps. The victim was swept 50 feet (15 meters) while near a roadside and suffered cardiac arrest. Despite being rescued and receiving first aid, he later died in a Grenoble hospital; local authorities have since closed the slopes and ordered a lockdown due to record snowfalls, prompting an investigation into his death.
